Meet the experienced and friendly doctors who make Enumclaw Family Optometry Clinic the leading provider of vision care services and products in Enumclaw.


Alexander Shepherd, O.D.Alexander Shepherd, O.D.

Dr. Alexander Shepherd received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington.  He then went on to achieve his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry in 2015. He has held internships at: Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium in Sitka, Alaska; the Naval Medical Center in San Diego; Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Health Center on the Navajo Reservation, New Mexico. He proudly joined his father’s practiced and has been serving the Plateau community since September 2015.

Dr. Shepherd is currently a member of both the American Optometric Association, and Optometric Physicians of Washington.

His clinical focus in on family eye care for vision and medical needs. He currently provides post-surgical care for cataract and LASIK patients, as well as the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, cataracts macula degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, as well as eye trauma and infection.

Dr. Shepherd is a native of the Pacific Northwest and grew up in Enumclaw, Washington. He loves to travel and has spent time in Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Thailand and Cambodia. He has also traveled to numerous states. Dr. Shepherd has participated in several mission trips to Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Kenya to assist with eye care and treatment.

In is free time, you can catch him on the slopes of Crystal Mountain skiing or hiking in the Cascades. One of his most memorable excursions was with his father, “Doc” Shepherd, when they hiked together to the base camp of Mt. Everest. Dr. Alex also enjoys music, reading and film. Dr. Shepherd and his wife Rhyan enjoy exploring the Pacific Northwest and traveling. They live with their two, huge, adorable cats Sebastian and Serena and their sweet, energetic dog, Atticus.


Sarah Humrick, O.D.Dr. Sarah Humrick, OD.

Dr. Sarah Humrick is a Colorado native who has resided in multiple states in all regions of the US. She first completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Colorado State University. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Western University of Health Sciences in southern California in 2019 where she graduated with honors.

She is currently a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honors society, American Optometric Association, and the Optometric Physicians of Washington.

Dr. Humrick has always had a passion for optometry which started during her first visit with her childhood optometrist and has only continued to grow. She has found joy in giving back to the community by providing eye care to those in need. She has participated in eye care not only at home, but abroad through medical service missions in Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Ghana.

She emphasizes patient care from a whole-body perspective and believes the eyes are only part of a patient’s medical story, although they are certainly her favorite. She enjoys all aspects of eye care ranging from annual eye exams for all ages, medical optometry, and pre- and post-operative care for numerous ocular surgeries. She has a particular interest in managing and treating various ocular diseases including glaucoma, cataracts, corneal pathologies, ocular trauma, and retinal conditions.

When not in the office you can find Dr. Humrick spending time with her family. She has a hilarious and wonderful husband, Hans, two young boys, and a dog named Cash who keep her busier than ever. As a family, they enjoy spending time outside hiking and being on the lake and in the mountains. She is excited to see what the Pacific Northwest has to offer and is thrilled to be a part of the Enumclaw family.
